If you're looking to start your day on a positive, reflective note, these morning journal prompts will help you do just that.
Practicing journaling in the morning is a great way to start your day off with clear intentions, and a refreshed mind. What you do in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. Journaling helps you to slow down, put your mind at ease and reflect.
One of my favourite ways to spend my mornings is to have a fresh iced coffee, set my positive affirmations, and do a quick journaling session before I get started with my day. I love setting my intentions, practicing gratitude and writing out my thoughts in the morning.
Whether you're new to journaling or simply want journal prompt ideas, this post is for you. Here are 6 simple morning journal prompts to inspire you and start your day off on a positive note.
1. Daily intentions
Start off your morning journal with your daily intentions. Daily intentions are what you intend to do and focus on for the day. They are purposeful phrases that guide you through your day. They help keep you on track with your goals and way of thinking.
2. Today's affirmation
What is your affirmation for the day? An affirmation is a positive statement that you can say & repeat to yourself throughout the day. Your affirmation should help you see yourself in a more positive light. It should also work to help you eliminate any negative thought loops you're currently in. I often focus my affirmations on things I'm struggling with.
For example, if I'm struggling with feeling good enough, my affirmation might be: I am talented, appreciated, and worthy of love.
3. Goals for today
Set goals to word towards for the day. These goals should be small, and something you can do within the day. I love setting small goals for the day so I can keep myself focused & know what my top priorities are for the day. Your actions in the day should align with your daily goals.
4. I am grateful for
It's important to express gratitude to remind yourself of all of the blessings you have in your life. These things can seem small and may even get forgotten in the business of your life. It happens to all of us, which is why this prompt is so important. You can be grateful for anything from your home, to your family, friends, health. This can be anything that you feel lucky to have in your life.
5. I am letting go of
If there's something you find yourself holding on to, this is where you can write it down and work to let it go for the day. You can write down anything that's upsetting you whether it's something that's recent or from the past. You might not be able to completely let it go just by writing it down- that's not how this works. But, this will help with bringing awareness to and acknowledging what's in your heart.
6. Manifestations
This is where you write down your manifestations. Manifestations are statements and beliefs that you make tangible through attraction and belief. Think about what you want for yourself in the future. This can be your career goals, how you want to feel, or other goals and dreams you have for yourself.
Write your manifestations down in the present tense, to reflect that the life you desire is within reach, and on it's way to you.
7. Mind Dump
For the last journal prompt, you can write anything and everything that comes to mind. The mind dump section of journaling is to "dump" any thoughts that you can think of. If there's something you weren't able to write about, you can do it here. This is your chance to freely write any thoughts, worries, or stresses you have.
