This post is all about 11 wellness tips you need to know about for a happier & healthier you.
Living a healthier lifestyle can feel like a constant challenge. Life is chaotic and so, so busy at times. I have definitely felt like there just isn’t enough time & money in the day to live a healthy lifestyle. If you’re on a budget but still want to live a healthy lifestyle- it’s totally possible! We’ve come up with 11 wellness tips that are simple, budget friendly, and will bring a positive change in to your daily routine.
1. Wake up 10 – 15 minutes earlier than usual
Wake up 10 – 15 minutes earlier than you usually would. This has been a game changer for me! Instead of spending my morning rushing to get everything together, I have time to be in the present moment. Use this time to sit in the silence and enjoy your morning. Whether you want to savor a hot cup of coffee in the morning, watch the sunrise or simply sit in the quiet, this is your time!
2. Leave 10 minutes earlier than you planned
If you commute to work, leave 10 minutes earlier than you planned. This will save you from rushing through the door in a panicked hurry (which I literally would do every single morning!) There’s nothing more stressful than being late to work or rushing, it’s literally the worst!! Leaving earlier than you planned gives you more time to relax before work, get a coffee and prep yourself for the day. It might not sound like a lot, but this has completely transformed my mornings!
3. Listen to a podcast on your commute
This has been another game changer for me. The night before work, I download a podcast I’m excited to listen to on my commute. My commute is usually anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour. This way, I look forward to the drive and feel motivated when I’m at work! It honestly makes my drives one of my favourite parts of my day.
4. Put your phone away an hour before bed
Give yourself an hour to disconnect from your phone. It’s so easy to get trapped into the cycle of mindless scrolling before bed- I am so guilty of this. I will spend an hour just scrolling looking at things I don’t need to be looking at without realizing how much time I’ve wasted! Put your phone away from your bed an hour before you go to sleep to really disconnect.
5. Journal once a day
Journaling is such a therapeutic practice. I use my Five Minute Journal as often as I can to write down what I’m grateful for each morning & night and love it! I also have a journal where I write about my day and how I’m feeling, and another journal for my manifestations and journey towards my goals. You don’t need so many journals (I’m journal obsessed!), one is more than enough to sit down with each night and reflect on your day.
6. Check in on your routine
Every few weeks, I like to check in on my routine and see what’s working for me, and what’s not. I go over what my daily routine looks like, where I have a tough time, and how I can change that. If you don’t have a routine- you will absolutely benefit from having a structured routine for your week.
7. Have a self-care day each week
Self-care has become a huge buzz word lately, but it’s important to really know what a self-care day is. My self-care day is on Sundays and my Sundays are such an essential part of my routine! Self-care looks different for everyone. For some it might be meditating, watching TV, journaling, spending time outside or taking a warm bath. It’s important to turn off from working towards our goals and enjoy a rest day. Your mental health is so important, so make sure to check in with yourself and to do things you love to do because they bring you joy.
8. Cut out sugar in small ways
I’ve started doing this and I honestly can’t believe it’s stuck! Cut out sugar in small ways to make the transition to less sugar way easier. I cut out sugar from my coffee and morning breakfasts. I also cut out sugary drinks and only drink water. These small steps can save you from consuming too much sugar in the day and leave you feeling so much healthier.
9. Add to your water
If you’re someone who doesn’t loove the taste of water (I am definitely one of those people) then this will change that! I love switching it up between adding lemon, cucumber and fruit to my water. The slight change helps me drink way more water than I normally would.
10. Share a rose and a thorn over dinner
This is an idea I love. When having dinner with your friends, family, or partner share one good part about your day (the rose) and one not so great or easy part (the thorn). If you want to have more connected conversations during dinner, this is a great way to start. If you live alone, say these out loud to yourself.
11. Meditate for 10-15 minutes a day
Practice a short guided meditation at some point in your day. I love this 10 minute daily meditation from Goodful. It’s simple, easy, relaxing and makes such a difference in your day. I’m definitely not at the point of meditating consistently each day- but it’s a goal I’m working towards and one that will honestly change your day. If you have anxiety, stress, or deal with hectic days- meditating for just 10 minutes will make a positive impact on your day.
