This post is all about the best self-help books to help you grow.
If you know me, you know that I absolutely love books about personal development & growth. Self-help books are my bread & butter and I'm always looking for the latest read. I've been working on my mental health and wellness this year and have found certain books to be such amazing guides throughout my journey.
Although I love a good thriller, I also find it exciting to read books I can learn new life lessons from. There are so many top notch self-help and personal development books out there. I've created a list of the 5 best self-help books to help you grow, heal and make positive change. Whether you're looking to upgrade your self-care routine, or want new reading material you can grow from, these books are the perfect addition to your bookshelf.
These are the best self-help books to read for personal development.
1. You Can Heal Your Life By Louise Hay
This book was one that I read during a really low point in my life and I am so glad I did. Louise Hay writes out all of the lessons you need to heal your life and make change. I'm reading this book for the second time and found there are so many valuable lessons in this book.
Louise encourages you to take a deeper look at yourself, your habits and your belief systems and find what is truly hurting you or getting in your way. Most of the time, we get in our own way and Louise does such an amazing job explaining how to get out of your own way.
2. 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think By Brianna West
101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think blew up on TikTok and has been everywhere the past few months. This is one of those books that truly deserves every bit of hype it gets online. For me, this book is an absolute gem.
The first few pages in I was already in tears because of how much I could relate to the message.. This book is filled with different lessons for the different seasons of your life. From break ups, to self-doubt, to negative thought patterns; Brianna talks about it all.
3. The Illusion Of Money By Kyle Cease
This is one of my favourite books on the list. For the longest time, I have struggled with the way I think about and view money. I've always had anxiety and stress around money but figured I'd simply have to deal with that part of myself.
If you worry or stress about money, or have negative beliefs surrounding money, you will love this book. Kyle encourages you to acknowledge the negative thoughts you have about money and to look at where they come from.
There are also activities at the end of the chapters that guide you each step of the way to changing your limiting beliefs about money. This is one of those books that you'll have to read more than once to let everything sink in and to really understand what each lesson means.
4. Atomic Habits By James Clear
Atomic Habits is another viral book that deserves all the praise. After hearing James Clear on Brene Brown's podcast, I knew I had to read this book. This book prompts you to look at all of your habits, both good and bad and to set up new, healthy habits with a detailed plan.
I love how James offers activities and lists you can make along the way to take inventory of your habits and to set yourself up for healthier ones. He encourages you to take action, and guides you along the way.
You don't have to make huge, life-altering changes and this book shows you that. This is a book I would definitely recommend reading if you're looking to make small, positive changes that create big, impactful change with time.
5. Big Magic By Elizabeth Gilbert
I've talked about Big Magic before and couldn't help but put it on this list. I absolutely love this book and it's still one of my favourite self-help books to date. This book is perfect if you're feeling stuck in a rut, can't seem to get creative or just need a new outlook on things.
Elizabeth talks about how to be creative despite the fear we feel when being vulnerable. She teaches you how to show up as your true self and to not let fear rule your life. If you're a creator in some way, love being creative or find fear has too much of a say in your life- read this book. You will not regret it!
