These are the top thriller books you need to put on your TBR list.
Some of my favourite memories are of spending a Friday night sitting curled up on the couch immersed in a thriller I just couldn't put down. You know you've read a good thriller when you can't stop thinking about it after you finish reading it. When I put down a thriller and think, wait- what?! I know it's a book I'll be recommending to my friends.
If there's one thing I know, it's thriller books. I love going through GoodReads, browsing through the next best thriller books and reading through the reviews. All of these books are books I've read and loved, or have on the top of my TBR list.
Here are the top 11 thriller books you need to put on your TBR list.
1. Verity by Colleen Hoover
This is a book that I had to put first on the list - as far as thriller books go, it's the best thriller book I have read so far in 2022, and I don't give that title away easily!
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
While at the Crawford home searching through Verity's outlines and notes to help her get started, she finds a bone-chilling autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to find.
I was gripped by this book and could not put it down. If you love a psychological thriller filled with unexpected twists and turns- this is the book for you.
2. The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
This was another thriller I just couldn't put down. After finishing The Guest List (another amazing thriller by Lucy that I loved), I knew I had to read this book.
Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound too thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.
This was such a gripping thriller and is a fantastic read if you love a story with twists.
3. The Perfect Marriage by Geneva Rose
Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney while her husband, a struggling writer, has not had the same luck.
Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.
Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.
Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.
The plot of this book sounds too good - I can't wait to get my hands on this read!
4. Billy Summers by Stephen King
Stephen King is one of my favourite authors and writes horror & thriller books like no other. I've found that you just can't go wrong with a Stephen King book.
Billy Summers is a man in a room with a gun. He’s a killer for hire and the best in the business. But he’ll do the job only if the target is a truly bad guy. And now Billy wants out.
But first there is one last hit. Billy is among the best snipers in the world, a decorated Iraq war vet, a Houdini when it comes to vanishing after the job is done. So what could possibly go wrong?
This book has received raving reviews and is the perfect read for the thriller lovers out there.
5. The Last Lie I Told by Debra Webb
This is the first of a new series, and with GoodReads reviews this good, I had to put this thriller on the list.
Legal investigator Finley O’Sullivan searches for evidence the police overlooked, wading through secrets, lies, and betrayal to find answers. With the unsolved murder of her husband still very much on her mind, Finley must confront her own personal trauma on a daily basis.
When a man imprisoned for murder recants his confession, claiming he cleaned up the mess for his girlfriend—the victim’s own daughter—Finley takes on the case. She discovers the victim had identical twin daughters…and the sisters have very different accounts of the crime.
6. The House Across The Lake by Lily Rager
This is another one of those thriller books filled with psychological twists that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Casey Fletcher, a recently widowed actress trying to escape a streak of bad press, has retreated to the quiet of her family’s lake house in Vermont. Armed with a pair of binoculars and several bottles of liquor, she passes the time watching Tom and Katherine Royce, the glamorous couple who live in the house across the lake.
One day on the lake, Casey saves Katherine from drowning, and the two strike up a budding friendship. But the more they get to know each other—and the longer Casey watches—it becomes clear that Katherine and Tom’s marriage is not as perfect and placid as it appears. When Katherine suddenly vanishes, Casey becomes consumed with finding out what happened to her.
7. Layla by Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover is a master at crafting page-turning thriller books which is why I was so excited when I found out about this book.
When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her—until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers but the mental scarring has altered the woman he fell in love with. To put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn.
Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow—another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.
8. Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
This book has such a fascinating plot and is different from the thriller books I would normally read, but I love the idea of this book.

9. A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson
A murder-inspired thriller? Count me in. There's nothing quite like a thriller and murder mystery - I can't get enough of them which is why this is on the top of my TBR list.
The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. 10. Things We Do In The Dark by Jennifer Hillier
This is another murder mystery thriller with twists and turns to add to your TBR list.
When Paris Peralta is arrested in her own bathroom—covered in blood, holding a straight razor, her celebrity husband dead in the bathtub behind her—she knows she'll be charged with murder. But as bad as this looks, it's not what worries her the most.
